Metals in very low doses are essential for our metabolic functions. Unfortunately, in our society we are continuously exposed to high amounts of metals (food, dyes, air and medical devices) and this leads to subjects predisposed to the onset of numerous damages.
It is estimated that 15-20% of the world population is allergic to Nickel. Orthopedists and dentists increasingly find themselves having to remove implant prostheses due to the onset of local tissue alterations and systemic diseases that are often insidious to health such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Skin Allergies, Autoimmune Diseases and Fibromyalgia.
The purpose of the Master is to sensitize the medical profession to the timely recognition of hypersensitivity to metals and to direct patients to appropriate therapies.
The intent of the organizers is to stimulate collaboration between doctors and companies in the sector so that alternatives to metals used in orthopedics and dentistry are developed for the benefit of patients and greater safety for professionals.
Dentists play an important role in the fight against metal allergies as they use many alloys that are potentially dangerous to health. Mercury amalgam, metal prostheses and titanium implants release ions that initially diffuse into the surrounding tissues, inducing phenomena of metallosis and peri-implantitis.
Subsequently these toxins migrate along the lymphatic pathways and affect noble organs and disturb important metabolic functions. Metals bind electively to immune and nervous system cells with onset of type IV (cell-mediated) allergy and nonspecific but disabling neurological disorders often difficult to diagnose.
The Master provides clinical and instrumental tools for the reliable diagnosis of metal allergies. Dentists will be trained in the protected removal of titanium implants, chelation therapy and the effective use of Zirconia devices, a highly bio and immunocompatible material.
The ultimate purpose of the event is to stimulate dialogue between professionals for a faster, safer and more economical solution to the problems of allergic patients. In patients at risk (cardiopathic, elderly, allergic or patients with chronic diseases), doctors should think about prescribing Zirconia devices as an alternative to metals as it is safer and well accepted by the tissues.
Finally, professional opportunities in the medical field of considerable development will be created, demonstrated by the recent establishment of several international ceramic implantology companies and the birth of numerous manufacturers of all-ceramic implant devices.

Prof. Corrado Piconi

Associated with the Institute of Science and Technology of Ceramic Materials, National Research Council (ISTEC-CNR) Faenza.
Contract lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Rome. Member of the Scientific Council of the European Society for Ceramic Implantology (ESCI) and active member of the Italian Biomaterials Society (SIB), of the Italian Research Society in Orthopedics (IORS), of the International Society for Ceramics in Medicine (ISCM). He was a member of the Board of the International Acaciemy for Ceramic Implantology (IAoCI). Author of over 100 articles in journals and chapters in specialized texts, with more than 2650 citations (May 2019), having as a prevalent reference zirconium-based ceramics. He has an H-index 30.1 1 (ResearchGate). He is scientific consultant for Italian and European companies producing ceramic led devices.

Dr. Franco Giancola

Former president of the Italian Association of Ceramic Implantology and Holistic Dentistry (AIICOO) and current active member of the European Society of Ceramic Implantology (ESCI).
Organizer of the 1st Italian Congress of Ceramic Implantology. Technical and clinical competence in various implant systems in Zirconia: Sds, Ceraroot, Zirkolith, Bredent, Straumann and Zibone. Consultant in private practices and dental clinics.
Professional activity carried out mainly on patients at risk such as heart disease, allergy sufferers, the elderly and disabled in protected hospitalization and interventions in the operating room.

Dr. Noran De Basso

Noran De Basso, graduated in 1992 from the Dental School of the University of GiSteborg, Sweden.
He has placed more than 20,000 implants in Sweden and has extensive experience in solving complications related to implant treatment.
Today he dedicates his work to the creation of more accurate surgical and prosthetic protocols for implantology and to the development of a digital mode in dentistry.

6th International Z-Systems Congress

58 years after the birth of ceramic implantology thanks to the work of Professor Sami Sandhaus, ceramic implants have gone from being considered an exotic option to a real clinical alternative. A change perhaps linked above all to the development of the devices used: "Today ceramic implants are technologically very different from those used at the beginning of this therapeutic option and have become extremely reliable, overcoming the problems related to their mechanical strength and osseointegration" explain the users.
Ceramic implantology, having overcome these initial difficulties common to every innovative field, is now concentrating on the clinical results obtained by the first users, whose effort is now oriented towards the production of adequate clinical and informative documentation to make the dentists in the area known. option of ceramic implants.
With this goal in mind, in January in Prangins, near Geneva, the Swiss manufacturer of ceramic implants Z-Systems brought together a group of clinical experts with the task of collecting the information available on the subject to make it usable by the entire international scientific community. The group of experts is composed exclusively of clinicians with a long experience in ceramic prostheses, among which the name of the Italian Franco Giancola stands out. During the first meeting, the expert group identified the most important steps to improve general knowledge on ceramic implants.
